Joslin and Jack Ruffle

Long-time partners of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), Joslin and Jack Ruffle do their part in the fight against hunger as volunteers and donors and have made the decision to include us as a beneficiary in each of their wills.

“We really believe that the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is one of the best organizations addressing food insecurity in our area” says Joslin.

The couple cites their strong sense of faith, their appreciation for CFBNJ’s efficiency, and their interest in our work to shorten pantry lines as reasons why they give to our mission. They are particularly impressed with our Food Service Training Academy, a program that provides those in need of a second chance with culinary and life skills training.

Jack first saw need early in life when his father lost his job and his family relocated to the South side of Chicago. Growing up in a tough neighborhood inspired him to make an impact on his community. While serving as CFO at JPMorgan Chase, he and his team undertook projects that improved the living conditions of low-income areas in New York City.

Joslin enjoyed working with children throughout her career, initially as a teacher and later as a social worker. She recognizes the importance of giving kids the right start in life and that proper nutrition is essential to ensure that they grow up to reach their full potential. Her volunteer activities through her church center around the issues of hunger and homelessness, often involving her daughters and grandchildren in her community service work.

In addition to providing for their family, Joslin and Jack also feel strongly about sharing what they have with those in need.

“We believe that because we are blessed with opportunity and resources we need to give back. We receive so much when we give,” they say. “We made such a good decision getting involved with the FoodBank.”
